Don't let his smile fool you. Chris Brown isn't such the charming 19 year old R&B singer you think he is. If your late on the relationship thing, Chris Brown is/was dating 20 year old singer Rihanna. Brown is accused of an assult felony as he allegedly attacked Rihanna a night or two before the Grammy Awards February 9th. The couple was scheduled to perform at the awards, but both canceled their acts before the Grammys started, leaving the Grammy constructors to rush and feel their spots with ither performers. Currently Rihanna is hospitalized, with bruises to the face, arms, and even bite marks. Supposedly Brown and Rihanna had an argument in his rented Lambo one night, which caused both of them to exit the vehicle, as he went over to her and attacked her. After attacking her, he fled the scene on foot as he took the keys out of the vehicle, leaving her stranded. He later turned himself in, and was posted for bail for $50,000. Rihanna's condition remains quiet. For now, Chris Brown's doublemint gum commercials are suspended until the case is resolved. Police say Brown is likely to face more charges, based on Rihanna's injuries alone.

According to hip-hop DX The recent and unauthorized release of an LAPD photo of Rihanna after an alleged domestic encounter with fellow singer Chris Brown may have been enough to keep the incident from every seeing the inside of a courtroom.

According to an LAPD source, Brown, even if guilty, may walk due to the leak of the photo.

“The most unfortunate aspect of the entire incident is not only the total disrespect for the victim, Rihanna, but the legal ramifications related to jury pool pollution the public revelation of this photo obviously has on the possible upcoming criminal case against alleged attacker, Chris Brown. “Brown, even if guilty, could walk free because of the unauthorized release of this photo,” the unnamed source said.

Gossip web site TMZ reportedly obtained the photo from an insider close to the investigation. The leak of the photo—which will likely lead to the termination of the person who released it—was obtained for $62,500.

LOS ANGELES — Rihanna is among the witnesses whom prosecutors plan to call during a hearing in Chris Brown's assault case, an attorney said Thursday.

Donald Etra, Rihanna's lawyer, told reporters that prosecutors have told him the Barbados-born singer will receive a subpoena to testify at a preliminary hearing June 22. The hearing will focus on whether there is enough evidence to continue the case against Brown.

Etra said Rihanna will comply with the order. It would mark her first appearance in court since felony assault and criminal threats charges were filed against Brown in March.

If she is called to testify, the 21-year-old singer would be subject to cross-examination by Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos.

Other potential witnesses have not been named, but will likely include police investigators.

Brown was arrested in February on suspicion of hitting and choking Rihanna in a rented car hours before the couple were scheduled to appear at the Grammys.

Etra wouldn't address their relationship now, but said Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was following the case closely.

A judge on Thursday rejected a motion by Geragos to receive police and investigative records related to the case and the apparent leak of a photo of a beaten and bruised Rihanna.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told Geragos the motion was premature and he could file it again after the preliminary hearing.

Brown wasn't in court Thursday, but he's required to attend the preliminary hearing. The 20-year-old R&B singer faces possible sentences that range from probation to nearly five years in prison if convicted.

Geragos argued that he should have access to the records to properly cross-examine police witnesses during the preliminary hearing. He also said intense public interest in the case should require the records' release.

Schnegg said Brown's fame wasn't an issue she was going to consider. She also called Geragos' motion "a fishing expedition."

She also said the records, which Geragos wants to use to search for police bias or misconduct, don't have anything to do with Brown's arrest. She said officers responded to a 911 call and the "Run It!" singer was arrested well before the photo of Rihanna's battered face was posted by celebrity gossip Web site TMZ.

According to TMZ Chris Brown will spend 180 days doing community labor (8 hours a day — 1440 hours total) — which is, in effect, hard labor. He’ll do his service in Virginia which is where Brown lives. A Virginia law enforcement officer told us Brown will be picking up trash, pulling weeds and washing fire trucks.

He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault — he pled guilty. He’ll get supervised probation. He’ll have to come back to court every three months. He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.

This is interesting … the judge said if Brown and Rihanna are at the same public events, the 50-yard stay away turns into 10 yards. The stay away order lasts 5 years.

The judge said she wanted to make sure that Chris Brown “was treated as any other person who comes through this court.”

If Brown violates probation, he could get up to 4 years in prison. Rihanna is in the courthouse but never entered the courtroom.
So Brown is now a convicted felon and loses the right to vote or carry a gun.

Damn all of that because of one night of stupidity on a first offense. Shaking my head.

he's lucky he escaped jail time...i know them inmates were waiting on him...i hope he stays out of trouble though...glad this mess is finally settled, now back to some news-worthy articles

I think it's "politics" more than likely he's been "advised" to make a public apology, it's just good politics to put his career back on track, but whose to say what's really in his heart.
